I am Reader in Philosophy of Education, currently researching and teaching at Leeds Trinity University in the UK. I work in Leeds Trinity’s Institute of Childhood and Education where I am Programme Manager for the MA in Education. I have been a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy since 2014.
I am an established and active researcher in the discipline of philosophy of education, with experience of publication in high level international journals, and in reviewing for peer reviewed journals. I am involved in a range of collaborative and inter-disciplinary research projects nationally and internationally. I am currently working on research funded with a Fellowship from the Philosophy of Education Society of Great Britain, entitled: ‘Disruptive Pedagogies: Unsettling Satisfaction, Expectation and Engagement in Higher Education’. I have published a book for Routledge with Dr Naomi Hodgson entitled ‘Philosophy and Theory in Educational Research: Writing in the Margins‘, and co-editing a book series for Springer entitled: ‘Debating Higher Education: Philosophical Perspectives‘ together with colleagues Professor Ron Barnett (UCL Institute of Education) and Professor Paul Gibbs (Middlesex University).
I have 19 years of experience in further and higher education settings, of teaching, leading and managing programmes of initial teacher education and continuing professional development in education, of PhD supervision, and have consultancy experience working with government and national regulatory bodies.
